The 'For Sale' Post

For your consideration is a vintage 1989 Trek 400 road bike. Frame size 58cm as measured from top of the seat tube to center of bottom bracket. I have personally owned this bike for just over 100 miles, about six months. I have cleaned and repacked the (loose bearing-type) hubs, cleaned the freewheel and replaced tires and tubes. All maintenance was performed out of routine cleaning, not due to any mechanical failures or issues. Whenever buying a bike this old, one has to assume this initial maintenance schedule as standard issue and now you can just hop on and ride.

Components Include the following:

Frame: True Temper 4130 Double Butted and Lugged Steel, made in USA
Fork: Cr-Mo tubes
Shifters: Suntour Accushift Indexed
Brakeset: Dia Compe BRS Edge
Deraileurs: Suntour Edge
Crankarms: Suntour Edge
Wheels/Rims: Matrix Titan
Hubs:Mallard 500 Sealed
Saddle: Avocet Spenco Gel
Bar Tape: Specialized
Tires: Bontrager Sport 700x25

The handlebars have been flipped and clipped. A trip computer has been added as well. I will include an uncut set of road bars in the sale if desired. There are some scuffs and chips on the frame and components, but nothing past cosmetic blemishes. Remeber, this is a vintage bike so I chose not to tamper with the original finish. No dents in the frame tubing. The bike has a rather original patina, no major cleaning or scrubbing has taken place over the non-drive areas.

This bike was a great tool for me to be sure I was committed to riding before writing the big check at the local bike shop. It could be the same for you or a great commuter, the choice is yours.

Asking $225 or best offer. Bike is located in Mesa, AZ 85207.
